The Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to begin a review of almost a dozen bills today, many could impact ECFC members.

ECFC has sent a letter of support to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman, Kevin Brady, to thank him for recognizing the importance of consumer-directed health accounts. A markup has been scheduled in the Ways and Means Committee for today, July 11, 2018, to consider eleven bills that would expand consumer-directed health accounts and lower premiums.

The letter also listed the bills under consideration that will expand and promote consumer-directed health accounts and expressed ECFC's support for them.

ECFC will prepare an analysis following the markup to help members better understand what is in the final proposal that impacts consumer-directed health care plans and administration.

Meanwhile, ECFC joined 22 other organizations that signed a letter from the Health Choices Coalition in support of legislation to restore over-the-counter (“OTC”) medications to full tax-preferred status, eliminating the need to first obtain a prescription. This bill is H.R. 6199.
