ECFC Joins with Health Choices Coalition to Sign Letters of Support for Bills to Restore Over-the-Counter (“OTC”) Medications to Full Tax-preferred Status
April 23, 2019
ECFC has joined with nearly thirty other organizations to sign letters of support that were delivered to the Bills’ sponsors in the House and Senate.
The letter in support of the House Bill, H. R. 1922, was delivered to Representatives Kind, Meng, Walorski, and La Hood. (Click here for House version)
A similar bill introduced in the Senate is S. 1089 and was sponsored by Roberts, King, Isakson, and Manchin. (Click here for Senate version)
The letters point out that Consumers depend on OTC medicines as a first-line option for meeting their families’ healthcare needs, and that by prohibiting the use of HSA/FSA funds to purchase these medicines, or requiring documentation from a doctor that OTCs are being used to treat a medical condition, limits access and greatly reduces the cost-efficiencies associated with these medicines.
The Health Choices Coalition represents physicians, dentists, consumers, retailers, manufacturers, pharmacies, pharmacists, patients, insurers, small businesses, and large employers.
ECFC will keep its members advised of any progress this bill make in Congress.
