COBRA Administration Specialist (CAS)
The COBRA Administration Specialist designation provides education related to the specialized rules and regulations that govern the administration of COBRA. This designation is designed for professionals who frequently engage in COBRA administration and seek to expand their core competencies in this area:

To become a COBRA Administration Specialist, one must:
1. Have at least one year experience in the compensation/benefits industry
2. Provide documentation of receiving at least 12 COBRA Continuing Education (CCE) units (see How to Obtain CE Units).
3. Demonstrate expertise in the COBRA core competencies by 60% passing the COBRA Exam (100 questions).
4. Pay appropriate exam fees.
If the applicant successfully passes the exam, s/he will be awarded a certificate and may use the CAS designation after her/his name (until the expiration date of said designation).
The CAS designation is valid for three years (36 months) from the date that an individual receives her/his certification. In order to continue to hold the CAS designation, an individual must submit the appropriate continuing education documentation and pay the recertification fee in order to renew her/his certification in order to maintain the CAS designation.
Recertification* Fee: Every three years $150 plus 6 CE units need to renewal your certification.
*Recertification can happen, either by submitting evidence of 6 COBRA specific CE, pay $20 per credit hour if you did not earn credit through an ECFC sponsored event or you can take the CAS recertification course for $120 and take a short quiz, along with paying the $150 recertification fee.
