CFCI Instructor Upgrade

 Certified Flexible Compensation Instructor (CFCI)

Professionals who already carry the CFC designation and are committed to training future leaders in the field should consider advancing their designations from CFC to Certified Flexible Compensation Instructor.

No exam is required to obtain the CFCI. The applicant must complete the CFCI application and provide verification that s/he has fulfilled the requirements. To become a Certified Flexible Compensation Instructor, one must:

  1. Have at least five years of experience in the compensation/benefits industry
    1. Applicant must submit proof of experience by providing proof of employment, including job title, description of duties, and length of employment.
  2. Provide documentation of receiving at least 22 Continuing Education units since first obtaining their CFC designation (See How to Obtain CE Units)
  3. Held the CFC designation for at least one year.*
  4. Pay all appropriate certification continuing education and related fees.

The CFCI designation is valid for three years (36 months) from the date application is approved.  You will receive a new Instructor Certificate.  In order to continue to hold the CFCI designation, an individual must submit the appropriate continuing education documentation (22 CE Units) and pay the recertification fee in order to renew her/his certification in order to maintain the CFCI designation.

If the applicant meets the requirements, s/he will be awarded a certificate, and may use the CFCI designation after her/his name.

As a CFCI, an individual may teach flexible compensation courses, which can be approved for ECFC continuing education units.

* Requirement may be waived by the FCI upon applicant providing proof of having earned an equivalent certification or relevant advanced degree. (Examples: CEBS or JD degree.)
